We schedule our appointments a certain way to ensure your pet has a dedicated time slot. If you cannot make an appointment all that is needed is a phone call 24hrs prior to your regular appointment and we will be happy to rebook you. We have a strict 15 minute late policy, after 15 minutes without notice your appointment may need to be reschedule for another date. After two no shows on record we reserve the right to deny service. If requested we can confirm the appointment the day before.
All dogs are expected to be picked up within 30 minutes after their groom has been completed.
If you are going to be late picking up your pooch please let us know prior to so proper arrangements can be made.
Dogs not picked up 30 mins after their appointment without notice may be charged an additional $10 late pick up fee as we try to maintain a stress free grooming environment by booking individual time slots for our clients pooches.
When a dog presents with severe matting, It is our policy to shave the coat. In these circumstances to de-matt would cause excess stress and discomfort and therefore shaving the coat is quicker and more humane for the animal. Dogs can be traumatized by lengthy and uncomfortable de-matting sessions and it can negatively affect their mentality and behaviour towards future grooming.
It is the pet owners responsibility to ensure matting of their pet does not happen. Matting is 100% preventable through daily brushing and combing of your pet and establishing a regular grooming schedule.
We encourage every owner wishing to have their pet dematted to read this CPPS educational booklet as seen in the link below.
For owners who wish to keep their dogs in long, full or show style coats will need to schedule routine appointments every 2 - 4 weeks.
Appointments may vary depending on coat condition and breed. This includes all handstripped dogs as well.
Here at The Pampered Pooch Parlour we kennel all dogs that come into our salon. We understand that no owner wants to have their dogs cooped up for a long period of time which is why we have set up our intake in an efficient way to minimize the amount of time your dog spends in a kennel. We do so to eliminate potential negative contact or stressful situations with other dogs that may be in the salon at the same time.
Shaving a double coated breed may cause hair loss along with multiple issues such as sunburn and overheating etc. With the owners understanding of these issues only then will we commence with the grooming. We encourage every owner thinking of shaving their double coated breed to read this CPPS educational booklet as seen in the link below before shaving their pet. http://www.canpropetstylists.ca/Files/shaveoff.pdf
The Alberta Veterinary Medical Association has deemed teeth cleaning as strictly a veterinary practice and groomers are not permitted to offer this service.
Glands will only be done with owners consent, we are not veterinarians and will only offer external expression of the glands.
The best way to have your dogs glands expressed is to take them to the veterinarian for internal expression.
Dogs with prior or current medical conditions affecting the anal glands such as a rupture, impaction or infection will not be eligible for gland expression.
